A Bunch of Randomness...proof that we do things other than baseball!

We did some fun things over the past few months.

DAYS OF 47 RODEO

Mason was mesmerized.  He pretty much sat in this position the entire night!
LAGOON 
One Friday morning my parents called and said they were paying for all of the grand kids to go to Lagoon.  We packed up the cooler and met up with Emily, Kelly and Mom and Dad.  It was such a fun day being with the cousins and Grandma and Grandpa!

The fountains were a big hit!

I thought this was a cool pic!  I love the expression on Mason's face.


This picture pretty much sums up Mason's enthusiasm for Lagoon.  He loved it!



I only had my phone camera with me.  Not the best pic but left to right, Andrew, Grandpa Murry, Parker, Jordan, Grandma Lee with Sarah on her lap, Emily with Bridger on her lap.

My train car was a little less crowded!  Mason picking his nose, me and Charity.  Somewhere, not pictured is Kelly.  Sorry Kel!  I don't know how I missed you!

Mason was worn out by the time we waited for the Log Flume.  His dead weight was KILLING my back!  
 ALPINE SLIDE/MOUNTAIN COASTER
Taking the lift up to the slide.  Russell pretended like he was still 18 and had a nasty crash.  He burned off a 2x4 inch section of his forearm and had multiple other owies!  

The coaster was WAY more fun than the Alpine slide.  The cars were attached to the track so there was no way to fall off. The ride up the track was beautiful and fun.

Love those freckles!  Mason is officially my MOST freckled boy at such a young age.
 FUN WITH FRIENDS
Stockton and Josh met at the park at 8:00 am almost everyday in August.  One would bring a snack to share and the other would bring a drink to share.  Then they would shoot hoops for an hour.  Stockton often looked up drills online.  It was fun to watch their dedication and passion.

CLASSIC SKATING
This slide is so scary.  If you are not careful you will end up with missing skin!  I couldn't believe Mason actually went on it.

FISHING at Teapot Lake.
It is so beautiful there and we never get skunked.
Mason casting out his rubber bait and reeling back in.  That lasted awhile until we lost the bait!

How big is the fish?

Stockton's first bait your own pole-cast out your own line, fish!  He was very proud.
 PEACHES
I had to include this pic of Mason eating Grandpa's fresh peaches with milk.  Me and Stockton and Mason LOVE them.  We have decided we are going to plant a peach tree somewhere in the yard.  The exact location has yet to be determined!
HIKING TO DONUT FALLS
We did this on Labor Day along with the rest of the Salt Lake Valley.  We had to park on the main highway and walk the 3/4 of a mile road that takes you to the trail head of Donut Falls before we officially started our hike!  It was a lot of fun.  Mason hiked most of the way up but needed to be carried a lot of the way down.

STATE FAIR
My dad wanted to make sure Mason got to see the pigs.  Me and Kelly got the boys there a little early and let them ride the rides.  Then Ben, Russell, Douglas and my parents met us.  There was not near enough time to see everything.

Another bad cell phone picture but it captures one of our favorite fair traditions-all you can eat ice cream.

On Top of the World

I have never been a runner. I have grown up around runners. My dad has run 7 or 8 marathons. My mom has run 2. My husband ran one 7 years ago. I have always cheered from the sidelines and wondered why in the world anyone would EVER do something like that. It is just plain ridiculous. In my quest to get rid of the after math of 2 pregnancies in a years time I decided to step my workouts up a bit. I am a really good walker. I would much rather walk 4 miles than run 1 but I needed to burn more calories. So, running it was. I decided if I mostly walked with some intermittent running that would help. I started out running the downhill portions of my 2 mile loop. Pretty soon I would walk my 2 miles, put Mason down for a nap and run a few loops in the park. Old Enough For the Temple!

Mason and I have been looking forward to going to the temple for a long time.  It is one of my favorite places and there is nothing better than going with your kids.  Mason was ordained a Deacon on January 5th and received his temple recommend  so he could do baptisms and confirmations. We checked Mason out of school a little early on January 9th and went before lunch. We wanted to be together as a family so we invited Douglas and Daisha, Amelia and Grandma Orchard.  That made it special.  It was snowing when we came out so Grandma insisted on staying under the awning.  She didn't even know she was photo bombing! 😂 And to make it even more special, we took family names.  A temple sealer told me to think about families and bringing families to the temple.  I had never thought of that.  I always just grabbed whatever names were next in my card file but we purposefully put together 2 different families to baptize that da...

Arizona

Our love of baseball has taken us on some of our coolest family vacations.  Last week, Douglas' team played in the Triple Crown Spring Training tournament.  We decided to cash in our sky miles so all of us could go cheer him on.  A toddler on my lap for a 2 hour flight was a little more enticing than enduring a 12 hour roadtrip, each way.  Douglas wasn't too sad that he missed the team travel in a 16 passenger van.  Can you imagine it?  8 teenage boys...together...lauging....texting...stinking.  No thanks!  His coaches are saints! As seems to always be the case, travel day was hectic.  Watching our family go through airport security must be somewhat entertaining.  There are the Ipods, the belts, the shoes, the stroller, the laptop, the portable DVD player, the camera, the sippy cup, the blanket....followed by the howls of a little boy who got his fingers pinched when the stroller collapsed on him as we tried to contain him to...
