Disneyland...FINALLY!

I have been DYING to go to Disneyland again.  We have been known to go twice in a year before but once a year is pretty standard.  It had been 2 1/2 years since our last visit and with a cute little almost 4-yr-old who would LOVE everything about that place I was yearning to take him.  Douglas' team played in a tournament in Anaheim over Spring Break.  That gave us the perfect excuse to go.  I just wish it would have been at a less busy time!

Mason loved the bus ride from the long term parking lot to the airport terminal!  

I can't get over how tiny that Longbeach airport is.  You have to get your luggage outside!




Mason ended up loving the Buzz Lightyear ride.  It is our family's favorite!  Stockton was pumped when he got his all-time-ever high score.  He found a secret target the rest of us didn't know about!

The first "big" ride Mason went on was Space Mountain!  I new it was a HUGE mistake but I irresponsibly gave in to his fit when I tried to keep him off and he INSISTED he was going with his dad.  Yep, he hated it...just like I thought he would.  It made convincing him to go on the other "scary" rides rather difficult!

Just a quick word about Stockton.  He was SO fun on this trip.  He is super cool and loves the big exciting rides but he also appreciates all of the fine little Disney details.  He a good sport about doing Mason's things and was very helpful.  It was good for him to be the oldest brother for awhile.

Waiting in line for Thunder Mountain Railroad.  I had a small backpack with some emergency toys but Mason was AWESOME in line.  There was plenty for him to look at and take in.


No one is crying!  Rare, indeed.  My boys have always HATED lifesized characters.  We never do character breakfasts or autographs.  It saves us a bunch of time and money!

This was our first time at Disneyland without Douglas.  It was kind of sad but he was there with his team, hanging out, sleeping in a different hotel than us, and playing baseball.  We went to his games but that is about the only time we saw him.  More pictures to come!

The Long Beach airport is such a mess right now. And traffic from there to Anaheim almost makes the savings of the airfare not worth the bother.

I have never been a runner. I have grown up around runners. My dad has run 7 or 8 marathons. My mom has run 2. My husband ran one 7 years ago. I have always cheered from the sidelines and wondered why in the world anyone would EVER do something like that. It is just plain ridiculous. Old Enough For the Temple!

Mason and I have been looking forward to going to the temple for a long time.  It is one of my favorite places and there is nothing better than going with your kids.  Mason was ordained a Deacon on January 5th and received his temple recommend  so he could do baptisms and confirmations. We checked Mason out of school a little early on January 9th and went before lunch. We wanted to be together as a family so we invited Douglas and Daisha, Amelia and Grandma Orchard.  That made it special.  It was snowing when we came out so Grandma insisted on staying under the awning.  She didn't even know she was photo bombing! 😂 And to make it even more special, we took family names.  A temple sealer told me to think about families and bringing families to the temple.  I had never thought of that.  I always just grabbed whatever names were next in my card file but we purposefully put together 2 different families to baptize that da...

Arizona

Our love of baseball has taken us on some of our coolest family vacations.  Last week, Douglas' team played in the Triple Crown Spring Training tournament.  We decided to cash in our sky miles so all of us could go cheer him on.  A toddler on my lap for a 2 hour flight was a little more enticing than enduring a 12 hour roadtrip, each way.  Douglas wasn't too sad that he missed the team travel in a 16 passenger van.  Can you imagine it?  8 teenage boys...together...lauging....texting...stinking.  No thanks!  His coaches are saints!
