10 Things I Love

Stockton just turned 10.  I thought I would share 10 wonderful things about him.

1.  Stockton is very loving.  He writes love notes and does secret acts of service for his family often.
2.  Stockton is an awesome big brother.  Mason follows him everywhere he goes because he is so fun to be with.
3.  Stockton has the most darling freckles and beautiful blue eyes with super-long lashes.
4.  Stockton likes snuggle time.  He likes to lay by me in bed an often asks me to rub his back.  He can't go to sleep unless I tuck him in and kiss him goodnight.
5.  Stockton is a good friend.  He thinks of other's feelings and likes to include everyone.  He is very loyal and will stick up for you.
6.  Stockton has a lot of energy.  He loves to talk and will tell me EVERYTHING.  I love that.
7.  Stockton loves music and has a great voice.  I love to listen to him sing along to the radio.
8.  Stockton has a growing testimony of the gospel and our Savior.  He will come home from church and tell me things he learned that day.  He is excited and eager to learn more.
9.  Stockton is an athlete.  He loves to be outside kicking, throwing and running.
10.  Stockton likes to organize.  He loves a new notebook, pack of crayons, mechanical pencil or any other office supply.  He is a list maker and likes to check things off.  That's my boy:).

We had a special family birthday dinner for Stock a few days before his birthday.  He chose Johnny Carinos where we ordered Bowtie Festival family style.

Stockton spent a day at Classic Skating with his cousins for a little pre-birthday celebration.  Then, on June 21st, his actual birthday, he had a bunch of his friends over for a Mario Kart tournament and some backyard fun.
Afterwards, we went with his cousins to Wendy's for lunch where he ordered BBQ chicken wings and a Frosty Float.
He jumped on the trampoline with the sprinklers underneath and then went swimming.
He was supposed to have a game that night but the other team forfeited about mid-day so we picked up Subway sandwiches and sat on a blanket and watched Douglas' game.  His special dessert was a slice of Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake which he wanted all to himself but he did end up giving me a bite! (Yep, that is the same candle I used for Mason's birthday!  Pretty thrifty, huh:).)
Stockton and I snuggled in bed together that night and looked through his scrapbook.  It was fun to remember all of the cute things he did when he was small.

For his presents he received a net that will throw the ball back to you.  If you hit the net up high you get a grounder....middle for a line drive and down low for a fly ball.  He will get a lot of use out of that thing.  He also received tennis balls for bouncing and fielding off of the side of the house, a soccer ball, a football for the swimming pool and and a scooter.  The scooter has become a tradition since he loses at least one per year.  Maybe he can keep track of this one!
Happy Birthday, Stockton!  We all love you very much.

On Top of the World

I have never been a runner. I have grown up around runners. My dad has run 7 or 8 marathons. My mom has run 2. My husband ran one 7 years ago. I have always cheered from the sidelines and wondered why in the world anyone would EVER do something like that. It is just plain ridiculous. In my quest to get rid of the after math of 2 pregnancies in a years time I decided to step my workouts up a bit. I am a really good walker. I would much rather walk 4 miles than run 1 but I needed to burn more calories. So, running it was. I decided if I mostly walked with some intermittent running that would help. I started out running the downhill portions of my 2 mile loop. Pretty soon I would walk my 2 miles, put Mason down for a nap and run a few loops in the park. About a month ago, Russell challenged me to run the full 2 miles. He pushed the baby stroller while we ran. I was not very conversational , but I did it! I was so proud of myself. I incorporated that 2 mile run into my wor...

Old Enough For the Temple!

Mason and I have been looking forward to going to the temple for a long time.  It is one of my favorite places and there is nothing better than going with your kids.  Mason was ordained a Deacon on January 5th and received his temple recommend  so he could do baptisms and confirmations. We checked Mason out of school a little early on January 9th and went before lunch. We wanted to be together as a family so we invited Douglas and Daisha, Amelia and Grandma Orchard.  That made it special.  It was snowing when we came out so Grandma insisted on staying under the awning.  She didn't even know she was photo bombing! 😂 And to make it even more special, we took family names.  A temple sealer told me to think about families and bringing families to the temple.  I had never thought of that.  I always just grabbed whatever names were next in my card file but we purposefully put together 2 different families to baptize that da...

Arizona

Our love of baseball has taken us on some of our coolest family vacations.  Last week, Douglas' team played in the Triple Crown Spring Training tournament.  We decided to cash in our sky miles so all of us could go cheer him on.  A toddler on my lap for a 2 hour flight was a little more enticing than enduring a 12 hour roadtrip, each way.  Douglas wasn't too sad that he missed the team travel in a 16 passenger van.  Can you imagine it?  8 teenage boys...together...lauging....texting...stinking.  No thanks!  His coaches are saints! As seems to always be the case, travel day was hectic.  Watching our family go through airport security must be somewhat entertaining.  There are the Ipods, the belts, the shoes, the stroller, the laptop, the portable DVD player, the camera, the sippy cup, the blanket....followed by the howls of a little boy who got his fingers pinched when the stroller collapsed on him as we tried to contain him to...
