Stocked Up

I don't know about you but the grocery deals lately have been bumming me out. I had a really good routine going, knew what price I waited for to stock up and now it has all changed. Have you picked up a bag of chips recently? What used to be a normal sized bag is now called "Family Size". How about a nice "Superstack" of Pringles. You get 25% more for twice the price. I am aggravated daily about the economic times and the insulting way the food industry thinks I will not notice that in all of the new packaging they have also shrunk everything and slightly increased their prices. I wasn't born yesterday people!

With that being said, I did manage to do a little feel good stock-up shopping today at Smith's. They are currently running a caselot sale but not everything is a good deal. These are some of the things I stocked up on. And, you have to buy by the case on most of these items to get the better price.
Skippy Peanut Butter $1.25
(This used to be an 18 oz jar for a buck but now you get 16.3 oz for $1.25. You see my gripe!)
Kroger tomato paste $.33
5lb. Cheddar Jack cheese $7.99
Kroger mandarin oranges $.33
Betty Crocker Brownie Mix $1.00
Kroger Vegetable Oil $2.00
Libby's canned veggies $.50
Kroger tomato sauce $.20
Nissin Top Ramen 7 for $1.00

This doesn't complete my much needed list of items I have been using as I await a bargain but it was a great chunk put back, a nice little bit of peace amongst so much turmoil! So, if you feel like me and need a little food storage peace of mind grab your Smith's ad and give it a lookover. Whatever you do, please go buy the peanut butter. It isn't going to get any cheaper!

You found some great deals!! (as usual). I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like she's waiting and waiting for some good deals to come back. And those new chip bag sizes made me laugh and one brand in particular think I was carrying a 1-2 serving portion in a really oversized package.

I already have my list and am ready to go stock up. I was going to head out today but my free time went away waayyyy to quickly. I am hoping to make it over there tomorrow!

I love my big pile of gatorade! I had the best cashier ever too. hee hee

Ooh, I love it when the Betty Crocker brownies are $1.00. We're all about the brownies during the end of days.:-). Do you know if it includes the brownies with frosting? Those are the BEST! Thanks for all your super shopping. And you're right, food manufacturers. We weren't born yesterday. Have you seen the tuna cans lately?? Tiny!

I have never been a runner. I have grown up around runners. My dad has run 7 or 8 marathons. My mom has run 2. My husband ran one 7 years ago. I have always cheered from the sidelines and wondered why in the world anyone would EVER do something like that. It is just plain ridiculous. Old Enough For the Temple!

Mason and I have been looking forward to going to the temple for a long time.  It is one of my favorite places and there is nothing better than going with your kids.  Mason was ordained a Deacon on January 5th and received his temple recommend  so he could do baptisms and confirmations. We checked Mason out of school a little early on January 9th and went before lunch. We wanted to be together as a family so we invited Douglas and Daisha, Amelia and Grandma Orchard.  That made it special.  It was snowing when we came out so Grandma insisted on staying under the awning.  She didn't even know she was photo bombing! 😂 And to make it even more special, we took family names.  A temple sealer told me to think about families and bringing families to the temple.  I had never thought of that.  I always just grabbed whatever names were next in my card file but we purposefully put together 2 different families to baptize that da...

Arizona

Our love of baseball has taken us on some of our coolest family vacations.  Last week, Douglas' team played in the Triple Crown Spring Training tournament.  We decided to cash in our sky miles so all of us could go cheer him on.  A toddler on my lap for a 2 hour flight was a little more enticing than enduring a 12 hour roadtrip, each way.  Douglas wasn't too sad that he missed the team travel in a 16 passenger van.  Can you imagine it?  8 teenage boys...together...lauging....texting...stinking.  No thanks!  His coaches are saints!
